The Non – Communicable Diseases Research Group (NCDRG) was formed in 2012 along with other Research groups in line with the Institute’s strategic plan. The Head of the Group is Dr. N. Odunukwe, Director of Research and Consultant Heamatologist.
VISION
To be the pioneer in the effort to reduce the prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and the associated morbidity and mortality.
MISSION
To generate research data that translates towards prevention and control of NCDs in Nigeria, in collaboration with tertiary institutions and the organized private sectors nationally and internationally.
OBJECTIVES OF THE GROUP
- To conduct research in non-communicable diseases such as cancers, diabetes, hypertension, haemaglobinopathies, cardiovascular disorders and aneamias.
- To disseminate information to the public on the risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases.
- To use research findings to inform policy on Non – Communicable diseases.
