The Immunology and Vaccinology research group in the pursuit of this goal, have the following subgroups to enable the group focus its areas of research which is infectious diseases.
The subgroups:
- Immunology of HIV
- Immunology of TB
- Immunology of childhood diseases
- Immunology of Malaria, Vaccinology
- Immunology of Non communicable diseases
- Nutrition, Cancer, Diabetes, allergy, and transplantation
Research proposals were submitted for funding:
- Sero-conversion study in children immunized against measles in Lagos, Nigeria
- Evaluating the impact of rotarix vaccine on rotavirus diarrhoea in children under five years in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria
- Clinical trials for Malaria vaccines (RTS, S/AS 01) to test for safety and protection against uncomplicated Malaria in children
- Situation analysis of capacity for Immunization services in the health system of Lagos state
Partnership:
The group is developing partnership with Lagos state Ministry of Health for possible full access to the Local Government Areas to determine the states of immunization services and identify the gaps and possible intervention
