UNIT OVERVIEW

    The Grants, Monitoring, and Evaluation Unit is saddled with the responsibility of providing grants, statistical support, coordinating and supporting data management, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of activities of various Departments and Units in the Institute. The Unit is divided into 4 Sub-Units which include: Grants, Biostatistics, M&E, and Data Management.

    • Grants Management sub-unit has the full responsibility of overall oversight and project funds which includes:
      • Ensuring strict adherence to all terms and conditions of the Grant
      • Disseminate/Notify staff of upcoming calls
      • Collate reviewed NIMR Calls
      • Issue Awards
      • Meet the needs of grant beneficiaries
      • Facilitate effective communication among all stakeholders
      • Document and maintain the records of NIMR’s grants (both internal and external)
    • Biostatistics sub-unit provides statistical support for the institute, which includes; study designs, participation in protocol development, sample size calculation, validation of data collection tools, statistical analysis, interpretation of results, statistical training for staff members, IT students and interns, and generally, solving statistical issues as the need arises.
    • Monitoring & Evaluation sub-unit collaborates with departments and units in the institute, to formulateSpecific, Measurable, Assignable, Realistic, and Time-bound (SMART) performance indicators necessary to assess the progress of work by units and departments of the institute, with a view to achieving the goals and objectives of NIMR strategic plan. Hence, this sub-unit tracks ongoing project activities in relation to the work plan, set objectives, and goal(s). The bottlenecks in project implementation processes are identified and solutions are proffered to rectify identified gaps. Project activities are then evaluated bi-annually.
